I got out the Bennies , mothers Woman's Exchange Cook Book. At first just to read the recipes.
But then I made Bennie lunch.
Pimento Cheese Sandwich and Cream of Corn Soup
From the Tea Room

1 cup milk and 1 cup light cream
2 chicken bouillon cubes or 2 tablespoon chicken stock
Salt and white pepper to taste
1/2 stick butter
Chopped Parsley
Blend corn in blender. Combine with milk, cream and I used chicken stock.
Add salt and pepper. Pour into saucepan, bring to boil, stirring constantly.
Add butter. Garnish with chopped parsley. Serves 4 to 6.
Next I will try the Chicken Casserole. |

This looks wonderful! And who would have known how easy it is?
It sounds and looks good. The bowl is a neat one to serve your soup.
My mouth enjoys Cream Of Corn but my stomach doesn't. I do miss eating that.
Hope you have a lovely day! ~:)
Awww, Miss Patsy!
How nice to be able to kindle such nice memories! My post was also inspired by MIldred, with her tales of ROOK and those cute little sandwich cutters. And of course, Paminna Cheese.
That corn soup looks marvelous---same recipe I've used a few times. And when I start out with a bag of home-cut corn from the freezer, it's Sunday-Special...
I know you and Mr. The Bennie enjoyed it, for the memory and the taste.

PS I'd totally forgotten my stack of "Bridge Cloths" which went down on the tables at refreshment time (or before, perhaps---I don't play bridge). I bought them from a neighbor at a garage sale, and they have quite a history of their own. She brought them from her home in Germany, where one of her Mother's roomers paid her RENT with one every now and then.
You were inspired and followed through! I bet the Bennie appreciated it...he needs extra strength to weed the flowers:)
Sounds good - and so easy too!
That soup recipe is new to me. I'll have to try it soon!
Looks delicious! It's always fun to be inspired by other bloggers!
