Merry Christmas

See you in the New Year, God willing.

Monday, December 16, 2013

The football huddle was invented by Gallaudet University quarterback Paul D. Hubbard in 1892. The school was one of the first for the education of deaf, so plays were conveyed via hand signals.
To stop other teams from stealing the plays, Hubbard had players form
a tight-knit circle to call the plays.

December Days

A dreary month of weeping ,
Of cloud and fog and rain,
Is sorrowful December,
And all the winds complain.
For trees are bare and flowers are gone,
And birds have hushed all song,
And days are short and sunless'
And nights are dark and long'

But let us wait in patience,
The days are swift to go,
And even sorrow does not stay
 Long on the earth below;
Some days must be for weeping'
But God  and heaven remain' And after night of darkness
The sun will shine again.

Brown Thrasher

All though we call it a Brown Thrush it is not of the thrush family of  birds.
We had not seen this bird all summer, but he showed up when
the ice covered the ground to eat sun flower seeds.
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December;
A magnificent thing
And sweet to remember:
"We are nearer to spring
Than we were in September."
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December.

The Law

Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way
that sinners take  or sit in the company of mockers, but whose delight is in the
law of the Lord, and who meditates on His law day and night.
Psalm 1:1-2 NIV

Free People

For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorant talk of foolish people. Live as free people, but do not use your freedom as a cover-up for evil; live as servants of God.
1 Peter 2:15-16 NIV

Did you know that, Cold-climate frogs grow more slowly than their relatives in temperate areas,
but live longer (12 years compared to five for lowland frogs) and so grow larger.

a grocery store.

This is a Thanksgiving add for the Smith's Super Market I saved from 1963.

The Parable of the Weeds

Let  both grow together until the harvest. At that time I will tell the harvesters; First collect the weeds and tie them in bundles to be burned; then gather the wheat and bring it into My barn.
