A Surprise


I was taking a picture of my new tulip.

started to clean out around my rosemary when I saw something move I uncovered this


I covered them back and hope I see the mother feed them , but I looked it up and she only feeds in the early morning and twice in the night.

Redbud Tree

Our woods and yards are full of the blooming Redbud Trees at this time of year.
Some years the Dogwood's will bloom at the same time but not this year.

Japanese Cherry Trees

On March 27 1912, our 31st First Lady Helen Taft used a new spade to plant the first two saplings . Among those present were
Eliza Scidmore , who had helped bring the trees to Washington. And The Japanese Ambassador and wife.




3,000 saplings were planted

Spring started March 20 ,but signs may not appear until April. If winter seems as if it will never end, you need a mood boost. Take action! Buy flowers, force bulbs or stick forsythia branches in water as a sign of spring to come. Plant a garden or weekend getaway. Start spring cleaning. Action leads to momentum. This rose was cut back in February.
Now look at it, I don't think it needs momentum or my Blogland friends for they all have tons of momentum.

I Found My Uncle

I have been on a long quest to find my great great grandmother's brother's and sister's and this is the baby of her family. This is Greenbush Cemetery Lafayette, Indiana:
This is the headstone of Civil War 32nd Regiment of Tennessee Volunteer Infantry and my great,great,grand Uncle Dempsey Ashford.

Dempsey Ashford was born in North Carolina on the 15 of Dec 1837 the last child of 13 children. He moved with his family to Giles Co. Tennessee in 1841. He worked on his father's cotton farm at age 22 he joined the Tennessee Volunteer Infantry . Records indicate that he was taken prisoner and died in captivity early in 1862. His brother was also in the prison camp, Osborn Ashford he survived the war and prison.
