There are zebra dragonflies, maybe this is one of them. The glads are amazing! I have never seen ones like your Mildred. In fact I had to stare quite awhile to figure out what they are.
Makes me happy to see these. I remember mother, John and I seeing these bloom in our yard our first summer at our Nalley Valley home.....a gift from the previous owner. And all these years later, they grow in your yard and still bring us JOY!
How very beautiful---those really have their "glad rags" on, don't they? I've never seen such an exuberance of blooms. Or, as I say about my pink double-double Rose of Sharon, "She has on her prom dress." I'd never heard of them---they're like peonies up a stem, and were a gift a couple of years ago.
I send them a picture of her in her pot every Winter, because she's just blooming her heart out in the big front windows.
