Wish I Could See Them Now

 This was some of the Azaleas we planted across the back.

With light green and

gold variegated monkey grass at the bottom.

On the left was the arbor  in to the secret garden , It had pink thorn less  roses growing on it.

 a row of pink

 and a row in front were white

The pink would grow much taller then the white so should have look great as time went on

but I never got to see them grow.

Spring Rains

Today will be the last of sunshine for the next two weeks,

the weather tells us it is all about the spring rain.

Oh No It's Snowing

Coming down in big flakes, but it's 36 degrees can't stick.

I went out took photo's of what in growing and

 just waiting for a week of warm weather to take off.

Spring Left With The Storm

when it came through, It took the sun with it. Hoping it will come back soon  we brought two new
Dahlia plants. Sorry to say the beautiful dark purple dahlia from last year didn't make it.


This is called "Spectacle" orange with white tips.

This pink is called "Jocondo"

Come In To My Secert Garden

1994 Texas these photo's were not taken at same time.

We can sit here for a while

It took a lot of afternoons to clear out the under brush a round the cemetery oaks
I called them that because they had vines grow all over them.

I  planting flowers here and there.

This was late afternoon looking back at the house. Blackie and I would walk the rounds
ever morning and afternoon when I came home from work. Ok it is stating to make me a little sad
I was sick for six months after we left this home. We only lived there 3 years. We had to sell and
go back to Memphis Tennessee be cause of Bennies job.

The Rest Of The Banana Story

The joke was on us, you can't fool mother nature.

When they got here in this photo fall was in the air , after all this was East Texas.

Now we know  the season  was just not long enough, you can't grow bananas that mature 

so you can eat them in East Texas.

 The trees were in full color

It was fun to see the bananas grow even if we didn't get to eat them.

We got things growing  and these are the banana trees, they loved the very hot summers .

That is silly me and Blackie enjoying a rest , see my garden window.

When the blooms opened on the stalk they looked like little orchids and the smell was so sweet.

the little blooms were pink , you can see the little green banana with the bloom on the end.

Remember Me Always

But do not grieve for me too long. I tried always to comfort you in times of sorrow.

Blackie passed away  in 2004 

We still miss him.

Over at blogger Cat tails they  just lost  sweet Harriet and we feel their pain.

We extend our most sincere sympathies.

Blackie gets a new  make over and he is not happy about  it .

We think he is so cute with his new hair cut.. He was having some trouble with his

 long hair in the summer.

It grew back before winter, he is getting old and gray. Each photo were years apart.

I Think I Will Give My Memories a Rest

And tell you what I did yesterday.

Looking out the window  we saw

the Blue  Birds of Happiness 

I got my Iris bed cleaned out 

The candytuft has some little blooms on it.

Wow! the peonies are coming up. Today I got blood meal and put on all my bulbs and Iris plants.

I think spring is here.

The Bennie Said Get On With It

So we fast forward to the rest of the story.

 The grass is growing the flowers are blooming 

 Bennie built this going in to my secret garden 

 before we got the roses planted and bed on the right in.

You can see the well house in this photo on the right on the left was more garden.
We left a line of pine trees across the front 

Thanks for Visiting Our Memories Of The Year 1993

we are getting the yard in and putting in the flower beds  ready for planting.

 The Bennie's work shop is ready , look he put flower boxes under the windows.

and we planted something around the tree.

The landscape timbers and bricks are to build  flower beds.

You can see the well here , Bennie built a well house over it ,hope I have a photo of it because it is so cute.

We Got Moved

in to the new house, wish it had been that fast in real life.

This was 1993 and all is just a memory now.

 This was so much work ,I don't know how we got it all done.

The Bennie did all the water works to the house from the well. 

He was the water department. He did all of the landscaping .

 We both worked full time came home and worked until dark.

But we were happy, happy. The three windows was to be a  fireplace with windows on each side 
but we didn't want it. I wanted lots of light in the house and this worked for me.

 The back yard -See my garden window it was over the kitchen sink.
The big window is the TV room.

The pile of dirt is where they put the septic tank.

And Bennie found time to build (all on his on) his work shop.

We will start showing  the garden's soon.

 At the back as you come in the door the left will be the kitchen 

on the right is dining room with big window

 the front bedroom window

We left one tree and Bennie is building a seat around it.

This is also in back of house.
