Need To Do This Need To Do That

BUT

The ironing can just wait,

The Quilt pieces will keep,

I'll write dust me on the dresser.

And sit or lay down and read.

I love this book, I don't want it to end.

I want it to end happy, it is part fiction 

and part true. It is basted on Nancy Turner's

great-grandmothers history of getting  to Arizona

and life on the ranch.

A must read first  is in the back  of the book 

"GOOD TO SET THE RECORD STRAIGHT"

So you will know the fiction, I didn't care , her

fictional husband was so much like some one I

know it was real to me.

 

WOW

 Went out to water my postage stamp garden.

The Squirrel came up and nosed around wanting nuts.

 It was way to hot, I live in a ice box and cold most of the time

But that heat was to much even for me.

That Bennie is a really hot guy???

The Bennie said he thinks Banana pudding would sure be good today.

So here it is

We not only have The Squirrel

The two house cats next door we have two Red Birds to come

see what was left that the Squirrel my have missed.

They are now getting their on pieces  of nuts. 

This is not the bird but will get the real bird soon "I hope"

Good Reports

The Bennie has had it for 2 days with Doctor's

Both gave him with little stress, you or good to go.

Why or Dermatologist and the medication they
prescribe so very high???
$90.00 for a little tube of cream.
And if I didn't have dental insurance we could go broke.

Then I went to the Dentist  

It was painful for him in his pocket book

but the hours he had to wait in that cold

waiting room was all most to much.

It was 3 hours for a first visit to get a

crown.

 Got to go back in 2 weeks.

Wordless Wednesday

Cuckoo Clock

 Anna is 92 years young, this clock came to American

from Germany with her grandparents, you can guess how many

years ago that was. 

There were some pieces that had come off,

the Bennie said it was from dry glue where someone

 had glued it long years ago.

He cleaned it and put them back in place. Ann was 

thrilled, she thinks he is wonderful any way.

I know It's True

I have read Colin L. Powell's book, never would I have 

guessed I would meet Captain Tucker that I had read about.

 He has been  talked  about in many books.

Two books, "Beyond Combat" by James Hutchens and 

"The Hump" by Al Conetto   tell of Captain Tucker leading

his unit, Charlie Company of the 1st Battalion, 503

 Airborne Infantry, against a superior enemy force, in the

first major battle of the Vietnam war on November 1965.

The exploits of his Rifle Company were recorded in song in 2006

By

Big and Rich and that song "The 8th of November"

was nominated for Country Music's Song of the Year

and Documentary of the Year for 2006.

His awards and decoration include the Silver Star, three

Bronze Stars, The Legion of Merit, The  Meritorious 

Service Medal and four Vietnamese cross of  Gallantry.

On Sunday, June 23, 2013, He conducted a large memorial service

at Arlington National Cemetery at  Arlington, Virginia, for thirteen

airborne soldiers of the 173rd Airborne Brigade.

He has many Titles 

Champion, Hero, Mr, Adviser, Executive Officer  and Captain,

Reverend.

Until his retirement in April 2002 he served as Minister of 

Pastoral Care at Bellevue Baptist Church in Memphis TN

for seventeen years.

Out of kindness he comes every Tuesday to 

teach Bible Class to us.

Our 4th Of July

Luncheon was at Bellevue Baptist Church

The speaker was our Bible Study Teacher at Bellevue Woods 

Independent Living Community.

Henry B. (Sonny) Tucker

Born in Vicksburg Mississippi in 1937, He played freshman

football at LSU, transferred to University of Southern Miss.

He is a member of the University of Southern Mississippi

Football  Hall of Fame. Also the  All -American  football

Foundation as their recipient of the Bill Wade Unsung Hero

Award.

Reverend Tucker was an Infantry soldier having served three tours

as a combat soldier in Vietnam. He served as District Senior

 Adviser in Vietnam under the late legendary John Paul Vann,

who was the subject of the Pulitzer Prize best seller by Neil

Sheehan "A Bright And Shining Lie."

Tucker was also the Executive Officer to Colin L. Powell.

Secretary Powell writes of their friendship in his highly

acclaimed book, '' My American Journey" and in his second

book "It Worked For Me"
