Trivia Saturday

Did you know that in Iran the hollyhock is an ancient herbal medicine, a drink made of the flower boiled in water, is well know for the treatment of dry cough, respiratory disease, bowel irregularity and menstrual irregularity. There are about 60 hollyhock species.

I would not try this but I would like to know if they still use this in Iran.This is my ditch hollyhock that planted it self, it is said that they have very deep roots and do not transplant well .

Growing and Cleaning

the Apple Gourd, if you remember last year I planted these and wanted to make a bird house.

There is more to growing them so they will be just right, mine were to small.
They had to dry over the winter and one rotted.



They were molded, had to be soaked in bleach

then brushed with a wire thing

I scraped most off with my finger nail it didn't come off easy.

then had to let them dry over night and paint them.

Next time I will just buy a bird house gourd.
Old people like me don't have time for complex progressive projects.

OK so that is what we have most of (time).

Royal Candles I am having trouble with my comments to most of the blogs I follow

In the beautiful hills and mountains of Arkansas the the cold clear streams and rivers are full of Rainbow Trout. Here is a stream rushing to the clear White River you can see the Trout swimming around ,it is so clear and when the water

is low you can wade out and stand knee deep in the cold river.
This is a hay barn close to the camp site in Cotter close to Mountain Home ArkansasThere has been so many bad storms and tornado's there this week some of the small towns have first suffered with flooding now tornado's.
We had a bad night watching the storms ravish the place's from Texas across the south in to upper states and we are to have more storms that will start around 3:oo pm today we are planning our safe place to go to. The day is to be warm with sunshine until????

We are in Hollyhock haven this is a pale yellow and it's

sister is white the pink one didn't make it.The tornado went north of us in to Missouri. It just demolished Joplin Missouri which is on the historic Route 66. There are so many deaths and injuries even the large hospital has major damage. Please pray for God to give them hope.

Camping on the White River

This was a little old water snake in a pond at the camp site.




It was high water and out of it's banks on the White River.

This is Norfork Dam so much water coming from the flooded lake.

That didn't stop the fisher man

Not even the Bennie,

this was a Brown Trout and had to let it go. To keep it has to be 24 in long.
It was cool and sunshine, we ate trout and sit around the camp fire at nite.

New blooms:

you just have to have Geraniums in the summer time.The Bennie got him a Bougainvillea
and Begonia's to go in the hanging pots

I am going to ride the wave with these petunias.
