Japanese Cherry Trees

On March 27 1912, our 31st First Lady Helen Taft used a new spade to plant the first two saplings . Among those present were
Eliza Scidmore , who had helped bring the trees to Washington. And The Japanese Ambassador and wife.

3,000 saplings were planted

I would love to see the cherry trees in bloom. I bet it is such a beautiful sight.

Patsy,
I enjoyed the post especially since I was just telling my husband about my small town band being chosen to march in the Cherry Blossom parade. Not sure if Wash. D.C. still has the parade, but back in the early 1960's it was a wonderful chance to see D.C. I still remember how pretty the cherry blossom trees were then.
It was a thrill to march in a parade near the White House. . Oh those were the days.
Hope all is well with you and Bennie. You are still missed in the Village.
