Poem

By Oliver Herford who was an British born American writer a frequent contributor to the Ladies Home Journal. This cover is for 1949.
I heard a bird sing
In the dark of December;
A magnificent thing
And sweet to remember:
"We are nearer to spring
Than we were in September."
I heard a bird sing
in the dark of December.

It is a dark day here in our part of Arkansas today. Lot's rain is on it's way.
Happy Hanukkah!

Hi Patsy, That's a lovely poem! Georgia is dark and dreary with lots of rain on the way also. Stay warm and cozy and maybe look through some seed catalogs dreaming of Spring time!

Hi Patsy,
What a lovely poem, I was just thinking the other day, when Dec. passes, I begin to think more of spring time. I love the picture of the bird.

And I checked your nativity set under your tree, and it does look like mine. My Mother made each of us girls a set, when my Dad was stationed in Anchorage Alaska about 40 yrs. ago. I just cherish it so much!. Now I am telling my age. LOL
Blessings,
Sue

Lovely poem, Patsy!

We didn't get too much rain yet. I was at the Turtle Creek Mall today, Christmas shopping and really enjoyed it. Then we ate lunch at Hiro's, just outside the mall. It was good being in the big city of Jonesboro!

Hugs,

Renie

That is such a lovely poem. We are nearer to spring, and I can't wait.

Great header, and do you see the tiny box with the Amaryllis flower on the right hand side of the photo? I have one exactly like it.
