Playing Around

I got two new quilt magazines in the mail, it is always fun to see what is going on in the quilt world. One ask what were quilter's doing to go green? Here are some tips.
One uses selvages to tie tomato plants and tall flowers to stakes/fencepost.
Use small pieces of leftover batting to store new Christmas ornaments.
One lady makes pillows for pets. She uses large scraps to make the pillows and the small pieces to fill the pillows. She donates the pillows to the local SPCA who gives these to new pet owners to take home with their newly adopted pets.

I love that idea of the quilt scraps being used for pet beds - very nice!

See there are good people in the world, sometimes we just need to look a little harder to find the great ones. That lady who makes the pillows is very kind.

PS Check out my blog to view the Quilt magazine that I was featured in ... it is also a great mag.

What great ideas, Patsy. I do use strips I cut up from old t-shirts that I was going to throw out, as tomato ties. Recycling instead of throwing things out is the way to go these days.

Beautiful quilt magazines. I don't quilt, but I love seeing beautiful home made quilts, and have bought several of them for family and myself.

Happy Thursday!

Hugs,

Renie

Your magazines look like a wonderful way to while the hours away. I haven't quilted in a "very" long time..You've put a few ideas into my head though. I hope you're having a super day.
Happy Fourth my friend... hugs ~lynne~

I've never done any quilting - but I bet I do attempt to make at least one. I bet the adoptees love the little pillows - nice of her to do this. Happy 4th of July.
