The Bennie

is better and my shoulder is to, Hoping all had a good
first day of  the New Year.

We are getting lots of rain this week with storms today.

No fun get together this coming week, partied out but lots of
loud firetrucks and ambulance. We were called up on to get help
twice. Christmas Eve a neighbor fell and the door was locked
The firemen got their hatch & crowbar  and broke the door down.
Then the ambulance took her away. She had broken her hip.

On New Years morning the lady next door said I think I am having
a stroke , would you know if you were having a stroke? I don't know
if I would. The firetruck came  then the ambulance, the men came
running in to the house pass the lady sitting in the living-room to
the bedroom. Had to smile, bless their hearts, they took her to hospital.
She didn't have a stroke but they are checking her out.

A week before Christmas  the lady two doors down died and the firetruck and
ambulance came, this lady and her husband  had  just moved in two weeks before
that.
Praying that the year will now be a well and happy one for our neighbors
and blog land as we move in to 2017.

Ooh dear me, those poor folks !
I'm happy to learn the Bennie is feeling better, and that your shoulder is on the mend, take it easy.....shoulders are temperamental.
Wishing you both the Happiest and Healthiest of New Years.
Hugs,
~Jo

Thankful that you two are better and praying that the new year will be filled with many blessings. Sad about your neighbors but aren't we thankful for firefighters and EMT's.

We have the same types of things happen here because so many residents are older. Two moved from here to Hospice and one passed away recently. I'm glad you and Benny are feeling better. That's a pretty photo you posted. Blessings in the new year.

Good to hear you are better...the Bennie too, I didn't know he was ill. You had some excitement over the holidays. Look up the stroke warning signs...it is FAST
F Face Drooping – Does one side of the face droop or is it numb? Ask the person to smile. Is the person's smile uneven?
A Arm Weakness – Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms. Does one arm drift downward?
S Speech Difficulty – Is speech slurred? Is the person unable to speak or hard to understand? Ask the person to repeat a simple sentence, like "The sky is blue." Is the sentence repeated correctly?
T Time to call 9-1-1 – If someone shows any of these symptoms, even if the symptoms go away, call 9-1-1 and get the person to the hospital immediately. Check the time so you'll know when the first symptoms appeared.

Most strokes when treated right away have minimal long lasting effect.

Oh that is a rough week with the neighbors. My aunt lives in a retirement community and is always joking about the ambulances. Dark humor sometimes helps. Yes, I think some people know they are having a stroke. Anyway, that is quite enough excitement to last for some time. Happy New Year!

Oh my goodness... You have had a lot happening around you. Glad you guys are ok. My hubby starts some radiation again which seems to be the norm lately... Praying that we all will have a healthy new year. Hugs, LJ

My what a time you have had but at least you're here to tell the tale.

Like Far Side of Fifty says the acronym FAST is a good check. The NHS ran telly adverts here for ages to raise awareness. Glad it wasn't a stroke.

Have a healthy year in 2017!
