I Would Like to Share

This with you, my granddaughter wrote this in school 2001.

Visiting Memaw

My grandmothers house in Longview Texas had a very lush landscape
that made you want to stay outside all day. The train always ran across the rode, and you could always hear the whistle early in the morning. The yard was nothing but tall trees and thick grass, were at night you could run barefoot catching fireflies. The house as well was gorgeous it was
white and green trim, and a porch with a screen door and windows. The kitchen always smelt like chocolate, and the rest of the house smelt of pine.  The house was full of antiques, and
a chirping bird name tweety. The house had wood floors, huge windows, thick warm rugs.
As a little girl it was a wonderful place to visit.

She  lived in El Paso Texas at the time so the tall trees were a
real treat she had never seen tall oaks and pecan trees before.

Our Rachel is now grown living in Dallas Texas  and has this little boy, we had
Thanksgiving with them.

Oh MY! How old was she when she wrote this? It is marvelous, and her job should involve some kind of writing because of her talent. She is so involved with all her senses! It makes everything such a beautifully emotional description. I can hear the train whistle and see the chocolate on the door...wonderful!

It is a nice set of memories that your granddaughter shared. Those were good times then and that little boy is good times now

What a sweet, sweet remembrance of such a wonderful childhood, and of one of the dear people who made it so.

I write often of my own Mammaw, and the fond memories I have of her, and can only hope that my dear GRANDS and GREATS might someday have a few such sweet memories of me.

How beautiful! My children are in Nashville but I hope when they get older they will the sights and smells of BonBon's. This is so sweet. How old is she now?

I could have sworn this second picture was not here earlier, along with the explanation. But more likely is that I totally skipped over it and missed it because I was so concentrated on her writing and I was blown away. So I went straight to the comments.

It is hard to believe but she is 31 now and she wrote this when was 18. I was thinking she was much younger when she wrote it. She said she wrote it from a memory when she was about 8 years old.

This is really beautiful. She is a lucky girl to have such memories (and writing talent too).
