I Maybe In A Rush

to get plants out in my garden for fall: this is the last of the vinca just saving it for seed
the apple gourds didn't get very big. They will have to dry over winter so I can get seed and paint them for a bird house can't do that with the small baby's but will paint them red like a apple.

last fall I planted the Pansy's and the rabbits ate them to the ground. I put red pepper on what was left and in the spring they came back and did very well.

We are in the upper 80 today and it is cooler now at night. The weather should be in the 70's next week. NO rain yet

Have a happy week-end

Hi Patsy, I love your apple gourds. Pansies are so bright and cheerful but the deer eat ours too. Hopefully we will get rain tomorrow. Have a great day.

Patsy, what an interesting post....I have never seen an 'apple' gourd before, how they really do resemble apples. What fun!

Patsy, You think we should do a rain dance or something....it is just so dry. We are ready for the cooler weather and some rain. Have a blessed week-end.

Love the apple gourds Patsy, and thanks for the tip of using red pepper on the pansies as we are getting ready to plant ours, now this explains what happened to ours last year.lol. We do have a lot of jack rabbits around here.
Pray you will get rain today, as we have had some forecasted here.
Blessings,
Sue

I can't do the conversion from C to F, but it does sound like a lovely day. We...well rain, rain, and more rain. Unless I am working, then it's sunny all day. Go figure.

Poor bunnies, they are going to have hot noses for awhile after eating your pansies.

Isn't there some natural product that won't hurt them? Red pepper is pretty nasty when you get it in the eyes, and most people don't realize how bad it is for animals.

There was a product that you could spray and make the leaves taste bitter, it works well, and doesn't harm anyone. I wonder if any garden centers will have it in your area?

Don't take that the wrong way please, I just have heard so many horror stories about squirrels and rabbits that scratched their eyes out because of the red pepper. So I do try to make sure that all gardeners know about this before making the decision to use it.

The apple gourds are so interesting! I'd like to try to grow some! Getting our own home again this coming week....it's just a small rental, but I so thankful for every square inch of that place! We have been living pillar-to-post for three years now, and it hasn't been easy. I am thankful for what the Lord is providing us now, and look forward to a few flowers and veggies next spring. Not enough room for the gourds but there will be time later....
