He's Back

Last year on January 25 2009 this beautiful bird came for a visit. It is a Rufous-Sided Towee or Eastern Towee
and today January 8 2010 he is back. His call sounds like Drink your teeee. enlarge picture to see him looking for sunflower seeds.
Ok I need to get a life: but I get a kick out of seeing these birds.

What a beautiful Eastern Towhee! I have them around from time to time - be on the lookout for a female. She's more rust/brown where he is black. I keep feed on the grounds for the doves and such, and they will eat from that food.

We have snow on the ground today, and I'm making sure my feeders are full. The birds are really busy on the back, but not out front. I'm thinking the house protects them from the wind in the back.

And Darla is right - this is the life! Becky

I love the Towhee's. I can still remember how excited I got when I first saw my first one last winter. Of course I did not know what king it was then. I am hoping to see more this winter.

That is just a beautiful picture Patsy. Occasionally I see these in our woods and I love to hear them. Hope you have a nice weekend.

Hi Patsy,
Beautiful bird, and I did enlarge the pic, was that a smidgen of snow on the leaves?
Thanks for sharing.
