Red Head Woodpecker

An unmistakable bird, it is striking at rest and in flight, showing it's colors of red, black and white. It is one of the most aggressive members of the family and of the most omnivorous.(will eat any sort of food both animal, mice and vegetable.)
Enlarge to see how big and colorful.

Aren't they amazing. We have some come to our feeder and we just stop and watch them every time they are there.

There conservation status is near threatened.I wonder why since they are so aggressive.

What a wonderful action shot. Looks like it is coming in for a landing.
