I did a post about putting some red pepper on my pansies to stop the Rabbits from eating them. Now I love my bunnies that have nested in my garden three times this year under the rosemary bush and I would never want to put there eyes out.

This is what I used large flake red pepper on the ground around the plant. No rabbit or squirrels were harmed. They had eaten them to the ground in the fall and I put the flakes on the ground then and when spring came the pansies grow and bloomed.

This is fine ground red pepper and would may be fly up in there eyes. So don't use this.
Jen from Muddy Boot Dreams wants us all to know there is a spray you can buy for this. Then the horror stories about rabbits and squirrels she has heard of want scratch there eyes out because of red pepper. Thank you Jen for calling my attention to this.

Autumn Is Here Again

The leaves are falling from the trees, releasing their hold overhead,turning, twisting , fluttering to the ground. Seeking their winter ,earthly bed.

The harvest is over and safely housed

and the open fields are quite bare, except for weeds and dry grasses,making homes for the little hare.

Insects go in hiding from the birds and the grasshopper fails to leap. The redhead pecks a hole in a tree to store food for his winter keep.

The flowers are still holding their one, with lustrous colors of Spring. Only to wither and fade away when Jack Frost comes and drops his sting.

I Maybe In A Rush

to get plants out in my garden for fall: this is the last of the vinca just saving it for seed

the apple gourds didn't get very big. They will have to dry over winter so I can get seed and paint them for a bird house can't do that with the small baby's but will paint them red like a apple.

last fall I planted the Pansy's and the rabbits ate them to the ground. I put red pepper on what was left and in the spring they came back and did very well.

We are in the upper 80 today and it is cooler now at night. The weather should be in the 70's next week. NO rain yet

White and One Pink

I have been trying all summer to get a pure white Cleome with out pink in it and here it is: This Cleome has the smell of a skunk ( or is it just me?) Oh well there will be lots of seed for spring.

The Pope John Paul II is blooming small roses now

They still smell nice and sweet

Poor little coneflower is doing it's best : This is all I have blooming from all the flowers from summer.
It looks like rain and cooler today maybe fall is about to get here. Happy day to you all

For The Grand's

My grand daughter is studying the American Indians

and wanted me to make her a Indian blanket this was to easy : I went to Hancock Fabrics and found this just had to hem it.

My son Steven ( 1957-2009) played football at University of Tennessee and never got pass his passion for the team.

He lived in a small community out side Knoxville Tn and never missed a game.

I had gotten this fabric to make him a quilt ( he would have loved it) but I didn't get it made for him. So my grandson Gene is in his last year of school and not made up his mine where he will go to college. He has some of my son's personal things and I am going to make it from him.
