I Found Out!

This is my new little bird. He is a Hermit Thrush.
There breeding habitat is mixed woods, they make cup like nest on the ground or low in a tree or shrub. That is why I only see him near the ground. With all of the hard rain I sure hope he made there nest. in the shrubs.
I love adding new birds to my list.

Mysterious

We have had lots of rain and look what washed up in the creek. The Bennie said it was a cow bone. There have not been cows on the land for years. What do you farm bloggers think? And this is my mystery bird.
If you enlarge this can you tell what this bird is called . There is so much poison ivy I can't get close. He is brown with spots on throat and light breast, a small bird. He is on the end of that large stick

Here he is on the ground at the bottom of tree.

Mind Your P's and Q's

In English pubs, ale is ordered by pints and quarts. So in old England, when customers got unruly, the bartender would yell at them "Mind your pints and quarts, and settle down. That's where we get the phrase mind your P's and Q's

What do you do when it Rains?

I go to the book store. Maggie Ann over at Knitting Kat read the books Annie's People by Beverly Lewis so I found book 1 to start. I can't remember who's blog had The Pilot's Wife. I found this book on the 5.00 table. The Quilter's Homecoming by Jennifer Chiaverini. I like it so well I am going to try her other books. (Elm Creek Quilts series'' neatly stitches together social drama and the art of quilting") Made me want to get busy on more hand stitching.

''Till He Come!''

Yes, He is coming-
Coming midway first to air;
Then, oh then, how blest the rapture
Which His blood-bought saints shall share!
In a brief-- a twinkling moment--
Loved ones, parted long, shall meet,
In that sweet and blest re-union
Round the dear Redeemer's feet

A new Visitor

This Barn Owl woke me at 12:45 last night . It sounded like it was in the room with me .
After I knew what it was I looked out my window but could not see it. Hey it was dark out side so I got these photos from the web to show you.
We have lots of farm land around us with old barns so I don't know why I was so surprised. We also had a beautiful Red head Woodpecker at the feeder late yesterday but when we opened the door he went up in the tree so I didn't get a picture ,but I will if he comes back (I hope.)

Low in the Grave He Lay

Jesus my Savior! Waiting the coming day, Jesus my Lord! Up from the grave He arose, With a mighty Triumph o'er His foes; dark do-main, And he lives for-ever with his saints to reign. He arose! He arose! Hallelujah! Christ arose!

This is the garden of Boxwood. Below that is the stone drinking fountain for the birds in the Starkey garden. Now in the middle bottom of page we have three garden plans . The Barnard garden with two circular beds and straight walk . Next is the old Starkey garden On the side name the plants in each lay out. Top garden are the plans for the Allen garden. All beds are raised and there is a fountain in the center. Top mid of page is the complete planting of the Keyes garden. A key to the planting may be found at the bottom of the page at the left.
On the right side of page is picture of the Keyes garden laid out some seventy years ago. That would have been in 1840. Middle of the right is a lattice arch covered with vines that forms the entrance. Last a summerhouse built in 1797, this old five-cornered summerhouse still stands now that was 1910.
If I had the money and land I would love to recreate each garden.
