Uncle Hosie Green's dog tags from World War I
they were brothers.
I knew Uncle Jim as a child loved to see him come visit.
Uncle Hosie I never met he died, did not live long after coming back
from the War.
I hadn't thought about the anniversary of beginning of WWI. I had an uncle who fought in it. I loved to go visit him but you know how it is, I never asked him about his service and now I wish i had.
ReplyDeleteSuch precious mementos!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any relative connection to the first war but yet I might if I do some research. My dad's connection in the second war always keeps my focus but I should look up things about the first one.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing Patsy. I hope you both enjoy the weekend.
ReplyDeleteA remembrance we have all forgotten...the start of WWI for us. Wonderful memorabilia of your family! How amazing to have those dog tags!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great tribute for this day. Those men deserve to be recognized and remembered.
ReplyDeleteNice post in honor of those who served.
ReplyDeleteOur dates are different to yours Patsy, our beginning was 1914. There have been lots of remembrances here in the UK especially last year 2016 which was 100 years since the Battle of the Somme where thousands were killed on the first day, 1 July 1916.
ReplyDeleteWe shouldn't ever forget the sacrifices they made for us in both wars. Nice you posted this as a tribute Patsy.
