Louisiana Iris

I am so looking to Spring:
The Louisiana Iris are fast growing, late spring blooming irises that do well in heavy clay soils.
And believe me we have heavy clay here in Arkansas. When I was little child back in the 40's we called it black gumbo and it would get so dry and hard you could maybe build a house with it. We went barefoot out on the farm and grand mother made us soak our feet in a tub out under the pump before she let us in the house. When we plant anything you have to dig the clay out and put lots of sand and compost . Happy spring planting!

  6. I have an iris just like this in my front flower bed. My friends from work gave it to me the day I retired. It is blooming very well right now.

  8. The Louisianas are just starting to bloom well along the Gulf Coast, about two weeks behind schedule. The cool nights seem finally to be over. I guess your bloom is still a few weeks off. Hope it is a great season.
